Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a special education teacher and I teach a self-contained class. My class can go up to 12 students. All the students in my class present with various disabilities and each have IEPs (individualized education plans).The disabilities include speech delays, cognitive delays, fine and gross motor delays, etc. All my students require different modifications to make their learning experience a successful one.
I teach in a low income district and funds are very limited.
My students come from all different backgrounds. My class is currently made up of Asian, African American, Hispanics, and American students. My students are eager to learn, excited about school and should be given the same opportunities like any other student. The greatest joy as a special education teacher is seeing the progress my students make in June, and watching them move on to inclusion and general education classes.
Please help me in helping my students get the best education possible, despite their disabilities, poverty, and backgrounds.
My Project
As noted before, my students all present with different disabilities. One of the best teaching strategies that help them succeed is using visuals. I often print pictures out to use with my students which helps with language--expressively and receptively. I will be able to save all the pictures I use for teaching with the laminater I am requesting. The cricut machine will also help me print visuals for my students.
This new laminting machine, laminating sheets and cricut machine will allow me to save many pictures I use in my teaching as well as create visuals for the students.
The cricut machine will also allow me to create various projects, signs, pictures, etc in less time and I will be able to spend more time planning and focusing on the needs of my students.
