I am the Media Specialist for a charter school and our students love to read. Each year we have a project where the students read and complete projects from a specific list. This is optional for the students, but they want to read and I want to have the books for them!
Our students come from all walks of life and all backgrounds.
We have a very diverse population of kids and they are a fabulous bunch of kids. I love my position because I get to work with so many of these great students. We have over 1,000 students that range in grades from Kindergarten to Eighth Grade.
My Project
Each year we kick off the Advanced Reading Challenge (ARC) and kids are super excited to read the books and complete projects based on the books. The issue is that there just aren't enough books to get all the kids the choices they want and the list does change from year to year.
I have hand-chosen a selection of books that we are missing and that the students are specifically asking for. Our poor ARC bookshelf is looking a little bare after the library being open for just one week. Can you help us fill the shelves and to then fill the minds of our children?
Our Advanced Reading Challenge starts off in the 3rd grade and these students are so excited to participate.
I have picked books on the 3rd and 4th grade lists specifically so that the continue to be encouraged to read and participate in the program. That's where you come in to help.
