Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The students at my school are some of the most hard-working, determined, and creative kids that I have ever had the privilege of teaching. As English Language Learners, they not only have to overcome language barriers, but they also have to overcome all of the challenges that the pandemic threw at all of us in the education field. As an Academic Interventionist, it is my job to work with those students that have a deficit in both reading and mathematics. This past school year, my third, fourth, and fifth graders showed amazing growth--not only academically, but also in their ability to believe in themselves and to understand that they DESERVE to feel that pride that comes along with accomplishing your goals!
This year, my kids and I will be working in a classroom that will be shared with four other interventionists and their students!
Because of limited space, there will be no room for a teacher's desk or any extraneous furniture. As an interventionist, I have a great deal of Orton-Gillingham materials and math manipulatives for my groups. The organizational furniture and materials that I have requested will allow me to store the things that are needed for my students and I to have the same level of success this year as we did last year.
Benjamin Franklin once said, "For every minute spent organizing, an hour is earned." Please help me kick clutter to the curb so that my kiddos and I can be our efficient and organized best!
