This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are kindergarteners, many attending school for the first time. They're excited about learning and coming to school every day. One of the biggest goals in our school and classrooms is to instill lifelong learning and provide them with a safe and enriching environment.

My classroom is composed of students from many different backgrounds, skill levels, talents, and learning styles.

Students come to school enthused and willing to explore new ideas. They are inquisitive; the best part is that they are very willing to look for answers themselves with proper guidance.

Our school is a Title I school with students from K-8, and I take pride in that my students share their supplies willingly with others who may need them. Our classroom includes English language learners of various proficiency levels, foster youth, and students with special needs. Within our school and classroom, you'll find leaders treating each other with respect and willingness to help each other achieve despite their differences. Students are focused on helping each other succeed and acknowledging their similarities. We work hard to give the students the best education possible.

My Project

By providing students with warm blankets, you will be helping ensure that they are cozy and ready to be focused on learning. The winter can be very cold and some students may not have the luxury of heaters at home. Especially as families may be struggling financially, a blanket will go a long way for our little ones. I will also be personalizing these for students in order to give them that extra connection to our classroom family. As we continue to work through this pandemic, students have not been able to come to school to meet me in person or the other students in their class. Being in Kindergarten, many students have never had a chance to experience being at school physically. They are also struggling with not making connections with their peers. Many have voiced that they want to meet their friends at school.

While we may not be able to meet in person, this blanket will not only serve to keep them warm but it will help connect us as a classroom when students see they and their friends online also have the blanket they do.

Something like this can make a huge difference in the way that students participate and interact online. That warm, loving, fuzzy feeling from a blanket will be a huge comfort to many students. Any younger siblings will also be receiving a blanket to ensure they are also warm. This is the perfect way to ensure students are safe, warm, and know they are loved by many. Thank you in advance for ensuring our students can be warm at home no matter their circumstances while also helping them for bond with their class.
