Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a second year teacher. This year I am teaching fourth grade, although last year I taught third grade. I teach in the Castle Hill/Soundview area of the Bronx. Approximately 90% of my students are on free/reduced lunch program. Last year I was fortunate enough to receive six computers donated to my classroom through grantwriting. I developed a schedule to get the students on the computer and using them and created a computer club where I gave students instruction in specifc computer programs. All the software I had for the computers also came through the grant. Unfortunately is was Jumpstart 3rd grade software. Now I have a fourth grade class, and although the software can be helpful, more difficult software would be more appropriate. This is especially the case because I have the one gifted and talented fourth grade class this year. Although they would enjoy using the software from last year, those concepts do not really need to be reinforced for these students. This is why I'm asking for the fifth grade software set for jumpstart. Many of my incoming students were above grade level ending the year last year, so I want to provide them with a challenge. The software allows for the instruction to change depending on which student is logged on and how they are performing on the tasks. Please help my gifted students maximize the use of this wondeful technology I worked so hard last year to bring into my classroom!
