This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Every February we celebrate Black History Month at my school. Our first grade team has chosen to celebrate the joy and significant musical contributions of Black and Afrolatino musicians. We study Stevie Wonder, Beyonce (a crowd favorite), Celia Cruz among others. But last year our speaker broke!
Help me give my students a joyful and dance-filled Black History Month.
While it is especially important to have some good jams each February, we used our old speakers every day for a variety of music. A Bluetooth and portable speaker will allow me to continue bringing our music to recess for Beyonce dance parties. We listen to white noise for reading time, classical music while we work, Jeopardy theme songs while we review... the list is endless.
And once you learn about Stevie Wonder you kinda want to keep listening all year!
