This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have six classes a day, and I am trying to have each class, in each grade level, learn the keyboarding and typing skills they need to be successful on their assessments. All city assessments are now computer-based, and some students have no prior knowledge on how a computer (laptop) works.
My students are a K-5 inner city students.
Most have not received any instruction on laptops, nor do they posses the skills needed to be successful at taking assessments with laptops. The room I use is extremely small and a class of 25 is a tight space. Using headphones would allow each student to be able to hear and complete the necessary programs without interruptions.
My Project
These headphones will be used on a daily basis for all students K-5. They will learn all keyboarding skills, copy/paste, drag and drop, as well as typing programs that teach how to type using the home keys. Most students are not familiar with these skills.
My students will feel much more confident in completing these new online assessments knowing they have had an opportunity to practice these skills beforehand.
Having these headphones allows for successful practice without interruption.
