My Students

Third grade is a difficult transition for most students. At my school, third grade students must learn to adjust to departmentalized classes. The level of thinking greatly intensifies in third grade. Many of my students come to third grade below grade level. This is partly due to life circumstances beyond their control. Many are impacted by poverty and language barriers. All of my students receive free lunch. One-third of my students are ELL learners. However, most of them are eager to learn, but need 'something extra' to help them get to the next level.

I teach in a low-income school district with a very diverse population.

My students can always benefit from extra practice and support to help them retain new math skills learned. This year, I would like add some things to our class to make my students' math journey more enjoyable. Through discussion and reflection, we've come to a consensus that third grade students can further close their achievement gaps if they continue to learn using various resources that are interesting, engaging, and interactive. Therefore, I would like to all my students to use online resources.

My Project

In 3rd grade, we are striving to make as many gains as possible to demonstrate mastery. Third grade can be challenging at times, but we push through on a daily basis. In our math lab, we use blended learning: the use of traditional teaching in addition to online learning.

My third grade students need their own earbuds to hear clues and directions given to help solve word problems while using educational online programs.

At the end of each school year, every student is provided with a school supply list. Some of our students return to school without their supplies. It is very challenging to have a concepts and skills explained when you can't hear what is being said. With your help, ALL STUDENTS will have the same opportunity to use their own pair of earbuds and enjoy their online experience.
