My students need 12 balance ball chairs so they will be able to choose seating that is comfortable during work periods.

My Students

We are an energetic, multi-age, K-1-2 family. Students stay in our class for 3 years as we develop family ties and help each other learn and grow. Our students can work anywhere in class - at tables or on the floor. We would love to have balance ball chairs! Please help us reach our goal.

I teach in a high-poverty district, in a Title I school that serves about 400 students.

My students come to school eager to learn. My class consists of 24 five, six, seven and eight-year-olds. We have several "wiggle worms" who have a tough time finding a seat where they can concentrate on their work, rather than their need to move. A visitor to our classroom will see an active group of youngsters, playing and learning together. My assistant and I strive to build a family atmosphere, where our students care for each other and themselves. We stress respect and good manners and our children are happy in their environment. Because I teach a multi-age class, students stay with me for three years (K, 1st and 2nd) so we really do become a school family.

My Project

I am excited about offering my students the choice of sitting on a balance ball instead of a traditional chair. These new seats will allow my most active learners to move and be comfortable as they do their work. We hope to add a few new balance ball seats each year, until we have enough seating for all 24 students! Donations to this project will transform the learning environment in our classroom. Students will be able to choose a traditional chair or a ball chair when they need to focus. I'm convinced these chairs will help my students become better learners.

This project will create a comfortable and diverse learning environment for my kindergarten, first and second graders.

Children were not designed to sit on hard wooden chairs all day - they have trouble focusing on tasks if they are uncomfortable. These chairs will provide comfortable fun seating for my active kiddos!
