Help Us Grow With Technology!

My students need an iPad Pro to make learning English easier and overall enhance their learning.

My Students

Imagine moving to a new country and walking into a completely new environment where no one speaks your same language. That is what my students face on a daily basis. I teach at a title 1 school in Salt Lake City, Utah and over 97% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Many of my students are refugees or immigrants that are new to the country by only a few weeks. This makes our school incredibly diverse and unique and we are constantly finding new ways to learn and grow together.

My students are survivors!

They have been through so much in such a small amount of time. As their teacher I want to give them every opportunity to achieve their dreams for the future!

My Project

I work with English Language Learners and many of them have had very limited schooling in their own language. I love seeing the excitement on their faces when they can finally communicate with someone, or read a story that their classmates are reading.

My students resilience and eagerness to learn is incredible!

I want them to have every opportunity to learn and grow. Using technology is essential in order to try and reach every student because their languages are varied as much as their abilities. I plan to use the iPad Pro in my small ELL (English Language Learner) groups. It has a large enough screen so that my whole group can see and there are awesome apps out there to help them learn English and better communicate their needs. We will be able to use interactive lessons to help with blending and reading words.

The iPad Pro will also help build their vocabulary, because my students are trying to learn a new language, having a picture to go along with words is essential, with the iPad Pro I can pull a picture up quickly during a lesson without much wasted time. I also want to be able to communicate with my newcomer students in their own language to help build connections with them right from the start so they don't feel so alone at school and an iPad pro has many tools to do just that. My students are amazing and deserve every opportunity there is to help them achieve their dreams and I believe technology is an incredible resource.
