Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from challenging home lives and backgrounds and I try my very best to make school a place that they love. Every day they walk into class with smiles on their faces, ready to learn, but that can be difficult when we are lacking the basic necessities.

Our school is very large, with over 1000 students.

The majority of my students are English language learners. They come from a variety of backgrounds and many come from hard working families. All students receive district funded breakfast and lunch, because we are in a low-income neighborhood. Even with all of these obstacles, my students are motivated, caring and interested in learning. They love science and computers and reading non-fiction books. They know the importance of their education and are successfully beginning their academic careers.

My Project

Inspiration and imagination is something that all children need. Creative play is one of the most important things we can do to prepare children for the future. It develops valuable skills and prepares kids to be next-generation learners.

We are requesting hand puppets and a stage to promote creative play!

Creative play is an important part of learning and socializing for young students. During STEAM centers, my students will be able to work with a partner and create their own puppet shows and stories using the various puppets and stage. Puppets are a great way for children to use their imagination to create and recreate stories with friends. By using puppets during creative play, students solve problems and take chances.
