My Students

I currently teach a group of multiply disabled students in a self-contained language arts, math, and life skills classroom. My students have a variety of disabilities including Autism, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, ADHD, Communication Delays, Cerebral Palsy, and Moderate Cognitive Disabilities.

It is my job to ensure that my students have countless opportunities to engage in self-directed learning activities that require authentic problem-solving and communication skills.

My students truly shine when they are able to work together with their peers to reach a common goal.

My Project

My life skills students regularly complete activities that foster independence and healthy living. We learn about decision making, problem solving, and personal responsibilities. In my opinion, one of the greatest responsibilities in life is taking care of something (or someone) that you love, and making sure that it/he/she stays healthy and strong.

Holding meaningful classroom jobs is one way that my students are able to feel positive self-worth and a sense of control.

By helping my students obtain an AeroGarden for the classroom, you will be providing them with hands-on learning and real-life problem solving situations that cannot naturally occur from reading books. Allow my students to feel the pride of their own labor!
