Help Us Get the Books Kids Want to Read!

Help me give my students a mobile cart to hold their book boxes, and lots of high interest independent reading books!

My Students

I teach at a Title I school in an underserved part of San Francisco. Many of the students are children of immigrants or live in the neighborhood's low-income housing development.

Though their families often have fewer resources, that doesn't stop my students' desire and ability to learn and achieve!

My students are curious, funny, sweet kids who can't wait to learn in third-grade. They are eagerly learning cursive, mastering their multiplication facts, reading chapter books, investigating live crayfish in science, making stop-motion videos about Native American life, typing up their stories on Chromebooks, and so much more.

My Project

My students can't wait for independent reading time! At the beginning of this school year, they devoured books about dinosaurs and space, books with sassy characters, books with amazing facts and photographs of animals, and of course, graphic novels. They keep asking me for the next books in their favorite series, like Hilo, Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales, and Sophia Martinez.

Please help me fulfill their wish list of books!

The more students read the books they like, they become more motivated to read and make reading a part of their identity. In addition, the mobile cart will help hold all the students' book bins, allowing for easy storage and access, so kids can get started reading right away. Finally I am hoping to get two additional headphones because I had more students added to my class one month after the school year started. Thank you for helping me students make reading the best it can be!
