Mrs. Furr from Forrest City AR is requesting flexible seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need chairs in which they can learn while still being able to move. This will provide a safe and comfortable environment for all.

Our classroom is full of 20 bright and eager first graders. Our students come from a high-need area in Forrest City, AR. I teach at a Title I school in Arkansas where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Although my students’ families are amazing, many of our students come from single-parent, incarcerated, or foster care families. As a result of these hardships, my students struggle with having the appropriate behavior in a classroom setting. Please help my wonderful students.
My goal as a first-year teacher is to love my students and provide a safe and comfortable place for them to learn. From day one I realized that I had many students who struggled with staying still. These students tend to get in trouble because all they need is a way to get their jitters out. My goal is to help all of our students to stay engaged without the interruption of another student getting up from their seats. This in return will mean more learning being done throughout the day. These “bouncy chairs” are made as an actual chair with back support but it has a bouncy ball that will help my students with “jitters” be able to remain seated as they also have some movement or “bounce” a little bit. These chairs will be used for my most severe students who are not able to sit in our usual chairs because they end up falling, flipping it, or even under the tables. They need the extra movement to remain focus. When students are focused, then more learning occurs for all of my students. I hope that you can help our students get the supplies they need to have a safe and comfortable place to learn.
