My students love performing! In my music class, we sing, play instruments, dance and act! Music is so important for a child’s development and my students have really developed an appreciation and love for music and the arts since I’ve started working at my school. Music has given my students a sense of belonging and has created a performing arts community within my elementary school. I teach over 500 students each week and each students brings something unique to our musical community.
My Project
At my school, we have spent the last couple of years developing a musical theater program. We have gathered tons of costumes and other materials, like fabric, for our productions. Currently, all of these things are stored is old cardboard boxes. The cardboard boxes make it much harder to find materials when we need them. We would love to have clear plastic bins and a garment rack and bags for storing all our costumes, fabric and props! The clear plastic bins and bags would help preserve our materials better so we can continue to use them for many years to come. They would also make it easier for us to access our materials without digging through cardboard boxes.
