Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help us get organized! Thanks to many generous donations, we have loads of books and classroom supplies, but they're scattered everywhere! Books are all mixed up on the shelf, scissors in this box, pencils left about on tables, glue sticks left out to dry up. We need help!
My class serves over 100 gifted and talented students each week in grades first through fourth.
They are avid readers and learners. Our classroom library has books leveled anywhere from first grade to sixth or seventh grade to accommodate all the students' levels. It is very hard for students, especially younger ones, to figure out which books are at the appropriate level for them to read.
My Project
We are asking for storage boxes in six different colors to organize the classroom library by reading level. By doing this, students will be able to know which books are easy, just right, or challenging. Not only will it help students select appropriate books, it will help to keep the library organized and tidy, making it easier for students to find the book they are looking for! We are also asking for 8 supply caddies to be placed on classroom tables for students to store their group supplies (scissors, glue sticks, pencils, etc.). Having these caddies on each table will help students keep the supplies tidy and off the floor and table. With four different classes, in a week, 16 different students use supplies for a table. This will help them not only keep supplies tidy for themselves, but for the other students who use them.
