My Students

One of the most powerful lessons we can engage our students in is helping them develop the skills to provide for themselves and to create space for our students to use those skills in their communities.

My students are incredible and they are a diverse group from over 30 different towns.

Several are low-income and will be the first high school graduates and first college attendees in their families. Others are from more affluent families. We have a unique community.

My Project

Through your generous support, my students, as part of their Ecology unit will partner with our engineering class. While the engineering students will be challenged to design and construct window box gardens, my students will be challenged to create the best conditions to grow (making their own soil blends, fertilizers, plant varieties, etc.) vegetable gardens for those window box gardens. The gardens are being given to low-income neighborhoods in our community that live in a food desert (areas where grocery stores and fresh produce are not located). Your gift will help our students use ecological ideas to learn to grow food and use that knowledge to support their community. They will experience ecology in action!

Our school's mission statement is to Think, Care, and Act.
