My students need an EcoSTEM Energy Kit for a hands-on way to explore Science at our STEM school. We are using the Project Based Learning approach so kids get to experience Science firsthand.

My Students
One of the biggest challenges of a Project Based Learning classroom in a STEM school is access to the many consumable materials needed to investigate Science principles and to work collaboratively with a team of peers. Won't you please help my 4th graders find their inner scientists and engineers?
My class of twenty seven 9- and 10-year-olds is a multi-ethnic group of inquisitive, boisterous, bright kids who learn best by doing things, rather than reading about other people doing them.
Our school is a STEM, (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), school where we use the Project Based Learning approach to allow kids to take learning into their own hands, literally. To do that requires materials that our school just doesn't have the resources for and are not provided by our district. We strive for an experiential education which is based on the standards, and is NOT tied to textbooks and programs purchased for an entire district.
My Project
Using hands-on learning is engaging and fun for my students and addresses the needs of my varied learners and their varied levels. The kids love working like real life scientists and engineers as they investigate and discover answers to the questions they have. My students will use this Energy EcoStem Kit to investigate electrical circuits and to build electronic projects that demonstrate renewable energy. They will also have opportunities to design and build wind, water, and solar powered devices and test variables to measure the electricity generated by their inventions, and then refine the designs. As a class project, students will assemble a solar-powered room light and phone charger, to be shipped to students in a community without regular electrical service or with extensive outages.
The more opportunity students have to problem solve, question, collaborate, and communicate, the more prepared for the future they will be.
Having the materials in the Energy EcoSTEM Kit will give my kids the opportunity to learn by doing rather than being bound to a textbook. Being a Project Based Learning school requires a lot of materials that our school district just can't provide. Please won't you help my students be engaged and enthusiastic as they learn? We really appreciate you!
