Help Us Get An Elmo for Seeing Demos & Student Work
My students need an Elmo in the classroom to go with the projector we already have so they can see my chemistry demos up close and can easily share their own work.

My Students
Do you remember what it was like to have cool science demos up at the front of the class but you just couldn't see them? My students do a lot of hands-on work and I do a lot of demos for the class. For demos, many are hard to see from afar. An Elmo will give every student a front-row seat.
We are a large urban public high school in California with roughly 40% of students from low income families receiving free or reduced lunch.
My students are hard-working and are trying to get ahead, making the most of the resources we do have. I run a college-prep program with high expectations. When my students leave my classroom, I hope they have experienced a lot first-hand with hands-on labs and activities and seen demonstrations of phenomena in addition to their STEM homework.
My Project
Direct experience with phenomena is critical to a science course. In this STEM infused world we live in, students must be able to see for themselves the natural world and develop explanations in terms of the California standards we discuss. I give the students numerous opportunities to perform hands-on labs and activities. The next best thing is for them to see phenomena during a chemical demonstration. I wish all students could see up close as we discuss demos. Yet many students are left out because they just can't see the detail that's important. I would love to be able to zoom in on a beaker where a transformation is taking place and have it come alive for the students and allow us to discuss the details of what they saw. I would love for all students to be able to see lab equipment up close as I prep them for how to use it themselves.
Your donation will ensure all of my students have a front-row seat when it comes to seeing the science equipment I am training them on and the wonders of the natural world as I perform demonstrations.
It will also help them see documents like problems on tests as we go over the most missed ones rather than just listen to me read them out loud. Everyone can follow along. And when kids give presentations of their work they will have an easy way to share with the class. These kids deserve it!
