This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 2nd grade class is located in inner city Richmond, California, and all receive free lunch. Every year the majority of the students in all of the classes I've taught start the school year substantially below grade level in reading, writing, math, and science concepts. I use technology to handle 80% of the learning materials used in my class, including having books, assignments, and assessments I've created accessible online. This allows me to provide leveled learning activities for the 4 year range of students in my class.

In my goal to close the achievement gap, I use technology to create new and exciting learning activities to increase motivation to learn in reading, writing, and math.

For the visual learners I have been videotaping lessons and making videos of students reading, which students and parents have access to online.

This current project is to get a microphone to complete our recording studio which will help students that learn best using auditory materials and activities. Students will be able to record assignments, presentations, science and social studies lessons, and songs during language arts lessons.

My Project

We are setting up a recording studio for our school and we currently have most of the equipment needed for this. One thing we are missing is a usable microphone for recording. The recording studio would allow teachers and students access to creating exciting audio experiences and activities for audio learners at our school.

Having a workable mic for recording would really make our recording setup really special for our students!

We currently have a couple inexpensive mics that work so-so for live presentations, but don't work well at all for recording. Having a decent mic would get our studio up and running!
