This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are SPECIAL! They are loving children in the truest sense. They show kindness to one another multiple times a day on a daily basis. Sometimes, like most children (or people for that matter), need a gentle reminder or a little nudge to help them make powerful choices in their learning experiences. They are enthusiastic learners who get easily excited about school, especially when learning tools are involved. I brag about my students in the way that a proud parent brags about their children. Many of the students at my school live outside of the school boundaries so they are here on a permit. They are predominantly of Latino background.

Our class is very unique and special because they have such an eagerness for learning.

They become overly excited when new books are added to our existing collection of classroom library, or when scented crayons and markers, or new pencils are included in their tool kits. Since my students love learning and enjoy using new tools I am constantly looking to add new ideas and materials into our classroom. By nurturing their excitement I know I can help grow our future leaders.

My Project

My students have teacher directed P.E. instruction for 20 min everyday. Like many subjects in our class, they look forward to this period. P.E. is important to use because it is where we get to exercise, develop our reflexes and motor skills and practice good sportsmanship.

In order to keep the children excited about exercising I am always looking for new ways to engage them in activities where they can develop their strength, hand-eye-coordination, balance and endurance.

Through the use of new items such as the egg and spoon equipment I can engage the kids in a race in which they must balance the egg on the spoon. Other items such as non tangling jump rope can be used for the kids to practice their jumping skills. With a variety of P.E. equipment I can create several different activities for the children to use during daily instruction.
