My classroom is full of energetic third graders who love learning and love new adventures. My students are is from a rural, low-income Pennsylvania school. I am the English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher for all students in the third grade in our district. But, I feel my job is so much more than teaching children to read and write.
My mission is to teach students about and expose them to as many positive life experiences as possible while meeting their individual needs and learning styles.
For example, students in my Social Studies classes travel the world through the adventures of their own paper doll (Flat Stanley) that visits another state or country and reports back about his adventures with the help of a gracious host family. Many of the students in my district do not have opportunities to visit other areas and cultures in real life, so I strive to give them background knowledge through school experiences while trying to meet their individual learning needs through learning styles. We also spend a great deal of our time learning about various world cultures and traditions in ELA.
My Project
By donating you will aid in student learning through allowing student choice and comfort. Flexible seating allows students to have options in their seating during independent work time. Learners have individual preference and learning styles. Allow children to choose their seating arrangement helps meet student's individual learning styles.
Flexible seating options allow students to have power over their learning.
Comfortable students make comfortable and highly engaged learners.
