My Students
Picture this...I've just finished a great read aloud story, and I'm ready for my students to discuss what they learned with their partners. But wait - some kids are at desks, others are kneeling by the computers, and the rest are squished on our existing rug. We need a rug that will fit us all!
I teach 2nd and 3rd grade in an urban area of Washington.
Over 80% of my students receive free lunch, due to their families' economic status. Money for extra supplies and equipment is hard to come by where we are! Even though my students' families have very limited means, they care very much about their children and everyone comes to school ready to learn and do their best. We are here for success!
My Project
I would like to set my students up for success during our whole group lessons - reading, math, writing, even science! We need a rug for our room that can accommodate up to 30 little bodies in one space. This will enable me to give a lesson to the whole group, and give the opportunity for students to "turn and talk" and discuss the teaching point for that lesson.
This rug will be a fabulous addition to our room, and help us learn the most we can in our large group lessons.
