My students are eager to learn how to read and get lost in books.
I teach 2nd grade at a public elementary school with over 1,000 students.
My students face immense challenges outside of school that they can't control.
What they can control is their learning and how they will succeed through hard work and determination. I know my students will be successful because I truly believe in all of them.
My Project
Many of my students are struggling readers and they're spending their precious reading time looking for the right book. If we had a leveled book cart and book bins where we could easily find books that are at the "right" reading level, we could use our time to get lost in the stories we can read, instead of thumbing through all the ones we can't.
Having a mobile reading cart only increases the possibilities of traveling to our 4th grade reading buddies with a variety of book titles we can explore together. There's so much we can do!
By donating to my project, you will help twenty-four 2nd graders have an easier time finding books that are at the right reading level.
This will help them increase their reading time and decrease the frustration of finding a book that's "just-right" for them. It will also make it easier for us to get more help with reading from our 4th grade reading buddies, instead of wasting time trying to find a book suitable for our level.
