My students need more familiar story books to fill their book bags. Now that they know and love these books from hearing me read them, they need a chance to read them on their own!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 25 amazing students who are eager to learn. My students are kind, caring, respectful children who enjoy coming to school every day.
They come from low income homes where they might not have access to the same materials that I have in my classroom.
My students are 5 and 6 years old and this is their first year with a curriculum that is incorporated in their school day. They are all at different levels and it is my job to ensure that they will be able to learn to their best ability. I want learning to be fun for them so they can have a positive outlook on school.
My Project
My students are in need of familiar story books to help them prepare for reading leveled books while still in the beginning stages of reading. These stories have been read to my students so many times that they are able to these books them all by themselves.
This builds confidence in readers at a young age and will encourage them to want to read and learn more about books.
Unfortunately, we only have one copy of each of these books in our classroom. Because of this, not every student is able to have one in their book baggies that they can enjoy reading after they have read their leveled books. Please help me engage my students with colorful pictures and fun to read books that are many of our favorite familiar storybooks!
