My Project
Our band program is in it's 4th year. Our 7th and 8th grade bands have each expanded to full sized concert band programs, and that leaves very few instruments for our 6th Graders to play when they start our concert band units in February.
Our 6th grade classes have also nearly doubled in size this year.
We are looking to add 15 Trumpets, 10 Trombones, 10 Alto Saxophones, 15 Flutes, and 15 Clarinets to fully equip our classes.
Our students are very hard working and many with like to sign their instruments out over the weekend to practice. Last year, our first class of students went to the NYSSMA festival to play solos they had learned while coming for extra help during their lunch and recess time.
Our students learn the fundamentals of performance and music literacy using the Essential Elements textbook for beginning band. The 7th and 8th grade classes also choose pieces to perform for our Winter and Spring concerts.
More than half of students from low‑income households
