My project needs: -Paperback mysteries -1 set of multicultural library books -ELL materials -Language Development Posters -2 Literature Unit Series -Leveled Readers
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my proposal. I would like to begin by telling you about my school which is located in a very diverse neighborhood in Chicago. We have children from all over the world (Mexico, Africa, Middle East, Asia, etc.). These children come from low-income families and do not have a lot of resources. I have taught first grade for three years and this year I am teaching fourth grade for the first time, which means that I could really use some new books for my students. I also have more students than I have ever had before- right now I have 30 students but that number could very well grow as the year goes on.
Since I am new to the fourth grade I am trying to build a classroom library full of enriching literature that my students will be able to relate to as well as enjoy reading. I have chosen book sets, literature units and a few ESL posters that the students can use in order to increase their love for reading and learning! One of the book sets is a collection of biographies that I am hoping my students can use to learn about interesting people that have made changes in the world and also become motivated to write their own auto-biographies later in the year. There is also a multicultural book set that I know my students will use to explore and learn about the different and exciting cultures around the world.
The children as well as myself appreciate any donations we can get. We would love new materials so we can dive into the new school year reading and having fun!
