Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a K-4 school and our students come from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our students are bright, creative, curious, and love to learn! We have a large population of students who are new to the country, and we have a number of bilingual learners in our community.

Our students continue to grow as readers.

They are at many different levels, and offering them a space to do some independent silent reading during their lunchtime would help us achieve strides in closing the literacy gap.

My Project

Our student council has developed a wonderful idea: To create a Book Nook during lunch! Many of our students would love a nice, comfy, quiet place to dive into a good book, but currently there are no spaces to do so during lunch. This is why we've decided to launch our first Book Nook! During lunch, students will be able to snuggle up with a good book in a cozy and calm environment.

With comfortable chairs and pillows, our Book Nook will become an inviting and relaxing space for students to utilize.

Additionally, it will help us with our drive to increase literacy and a love of reading with our students.
