As a School Library Technology Teacher, I teach students in grades K-6. My students visit me weekly in the library to learn about books, libraries and computer science.
My students are imaginative and curious problem solvers who like being challenged!
Our computer science curriculum follows along with the MA Digital Literacy Standards. Through the standards we have begun to explore coding and robotics, as well as STEAM and engineering.
My students love learning with robotic devices which give them plenty of practice to think critically and collaborate with others. Learning new things is exciting! In order to keep our learning fresh, we need resources in the school library to support their burgeoning awareness of what can be created with technology.
My Project
The iPad will be used with the Dash robot to help teach coding. With the iPad, we will be able to work through the lessons in the Dash apps. Coding teaches problem solving by showing students how to break a problem down into smaller, more manageable chunks. It helps us to become better team players by preparing us to work together to program our robot. It helps students to become better thinkers!
The iPad will run the Dash robot and the programs that will help us become amazing coders.
The Dash robot is a great extension program to our current work on code.org.
