My current classroom has Kindergarten and First Grade students with a wide variety of capabilities. All have mental and physical challenges, and require special care and therapies from adults who have the passion to encourage our students to learn and achieve!
Our students are "handi-capable!" They surprise us daily with their eagerness to learn, efforts to communicate, determination, compassion, playfulness and joy!
They are champions! "So often you find that the students you're trying to INSPIRE are the ones that end up inspiring you!" -Sean Junkins
My Project
Many of our students have limited dexterity, and require assistance for cutting and coloring. Adaptive materials help them to learn these skills with greater independence.
We would love to have proper equipment and resources for each and every student, and this will help so much!
The adaptive scissors will help our students learn to cut paper for projects. The solid base for support will help our students with dexterity challenges to be successful.
The dot paints allow our students to paint without using a brush. They are large enough for them to grip, for easier control and less spilling. The colors are bold enough for our students with vision challenges.
We are often modifying equipment to help our students, or making purchases ourselves, to meet our students' needs. We are so grateful DonorsChoose provides a way to express our educational needs, and for your generous support in helping our students to be successful!
