Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a kindergarten classroom of 30 students with a passion to learn!
97% of our students are economically disadvantaged.
Most of the students entering my classroom have developmental delays and/or special needs. With drastic budget cuts in our district, materials and supplies for our students are nonexistent. Teachers across our district are stepping up to make sure our beloved students have the materials they need to be successful.
My Project
Most of my students entering kindergarten lack the fine motor skills needed to hold a pencil, use scissors, or even dress themselves. Using Play-doh actually builds the muscles needed to complete these tasks. By getting this project funded, I will be able to set up a center for the students who need help with their fine motor skills. The best part is, Hasbro has graciously offered to pay for half of this project through special funding! In addition to asking for Play-doh, I am requesting a Chromebook for our classroom. Our classroom currently has two ancient computers. We have received grants for educational programs which we will use as interventions with our students. Unfortunately, only having two computers cuts down on the amount of time and students who can access these interventions. Having another computer in the classroom will allow me to set up a technology center for these students.
An important part of learning in our kindergarten classroom is through the use of centers.
This is where I can differentiate instruction and meet the needs of my students. By having this project funded, I will be able to add two more critical centers to my classroom.
