The school is creating a school store! We are rolling out a school-wide incentive system this year, wherein students earn points for exhibiting positive behaviors during the day. They will then have bi-weekly opportunities to trade in those points at a school store. Middle school students are especially hard to draw in to positive reinforcements when the rewards in question are not attractive options. To this end, we are hoping to stock the store with appealing items like Beats headphones, Google Pixel ear buds, bluetooth speakers, and sports equipment. Engaging students in this positive incentive system will hopefully help build community and start to address more equitable instruction without distracting behaviors.
Student engagement requires items that students want to "purchase." We will offer a variety of rewards at the store, but we recognize that middle school students will be more likely to engage with this system when the store is stocked with some big-ticket items to keep up motivation.
Please help us reward students for positive contributions to our school community.
