Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These specific items will make a difference in my students' learning by offering comfort, a defined learning space, and flexible seating.
A rug can provide a soft and comfortable area where students can sit.
It can help highlight the classroom when students walk in the morning. Also, a rug can serve as a designated space for class discussions, read aloud, or community circle. For example, my students will be starting to do a "paired reading." Flexible seating is another way having a classroom rug can provide that option. For example, students may have the option to work on the rug besides sitting there on their desks.
My students are amazing learners that should have a classroom that supports their comfort and well-being. Any opportunities that I can give to help our classroom support their needs, shows them that they are cared for. It is way of saying, "You matter in this classroom/school/world."
