My Students

I couldn't be more thankful to go to work each day and spend time with the most wonderful group of first graders! Our classroom is filled with a plethora of cultures and backgrounds. Despite the variety of differences, my students embrace and respect each other. There is a feeling of love and acceptance that fills our room each day.

At the ages of six and seven, my students have already started to show a love for learning.

Each day they come to school ready and eager to learn. They work hard and continue to grow their brains by focusing on math and literacy skills that will set them up for success throughout their school career and beyond!

My Project

Although my students love to learn, I have noticed they become uncomfortable sitting at their desk in a plastic chair all day long. Most of my students like to stand, lay down, lean back or move around in their chair to help them become more comfortable and focused.

In order for my students to have the best learning experience in my classroom, I would like to transform my room from the standard desk and chair for every student to a flexible seating classroom.

I would like the wobbly chairs for my students who like to lean back and move while sitting in their chairs, as well as the bean bags for my students who like to sit on something with a little more cushion. Since I will be getting rid of the desk and replacing them with tables, my students will need the plastic storage bins to hold their journals and leveled readers. By having these materials in our classroom, I believe my students will become more focused on their learning and less on trying to get comfortable in their seats.
