Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school takes pride in being a "Bully-Free Zone!" However, statistics show that bullying takes place in almost every school. My 5th grade students are eager to learn more about bullying and what they can do to truly put an end to any form of bullying in our school!

My students are a group of fun-loving children who work hard and who don't let their circumstances bring them down.

Coming from a Title I school that was recently given the label of 99.5% poverty, these students rise above and beyond any boundaries placed upon them. For some, school is a safe haven, a place to get away from the hardships they face at home. For others, school is a place for them to shine. We have many students who excel at academics and are able to really grow and succeed at school, surrounded by teachers and faculty who truly care. Although our students struggle with things that I have never had to experience, they come to school ready to learn and with an attitude of gratitude. They also come to school realizing that they are the students to whom OTHER students look up to and they are ready to take that role very seriously! With that in mind, they are eager to learn more about bullying and use that information to educate their peers!

My Project

Unfortunately, bullying is something that my students are familiar with. At some point in their elementary experience, many of my students have been bullied. Because of this, they have become very passionate about putting an end to bullying and I am so fortunate to be able to help them! "Bullying In Schools" is a book that we have used in a small group. We dissect and discuss the book together. The students love to learn ways to prevent bullying from happening in our school and talk about ways to educate other students. These 10 additional books and table will provide another place to sit as a group, read without interruption, and discuss without fear. The purpose of these small groups is to create leaders in the school who are not afraid to tell others about the dangers of bullying and provide ways to prevent it from happening. My students are ready to be these leaders and I am ready to help them achieve this goal!

By donating to this project, you will provide my students with the tools they need to become leaders in the school!

You will provide them with what they need to truly create a "Bully-Free Zone" in our school! Help my students shine, as well as educate others on the dangers and effects of bullying!
