My students need two up-to-date computers, with Microsoft office, that are in our own classroom where they will be accessible to students all of the time.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are growing up in a world where technology is an essential part of everyday life. Yet, most of them do not have computers at home and the two computers we do have in class are so outdated that they will not access websites or run software designed to help improve their learning.
I generally teach a very diverse group of students.
Last year, I had a group of students whose cultural roots included Mexico, Central and South America, India, the Philippines, Korea, Egypt, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Iran, Belgium, and various parts of the United States. Thirteen of my twenty-six students were English language learners. My students usually come from working class families who have limited resources to invest in their educations. Despite that challenge, my students' parents are involved in their children's educations and my students work hard and are extremely eager to learn.
My Project
The two computers you are funding will stay in our classroom, where they will be accessible to students all the time. My students will use them to work on Accelerated Reader; to create PowerPoint presentations; to practice reading on Starfall.com and the Tumble Books website; to play math games and take quizzes on the EnVision math website; to practice typing; to do Internet research for project-based units; and to engage in any creative activities that we might conceive of as our expertise in the use of technology grows.
These laptops will allow my students to become better readers, writers, and mathematicians, as well as enhance their academic, technological, and critical thinking skills.
The two computers we have in our classroom are at least ten years old.
They are slow, outdated, and often my students are not able to access websites or software intended to help them with learning. Your donation will provide us with computers that my students can to use to access a variety of wonderful learning resources. We hope that you will fund our project!
