This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are learning that reading can provide them with many benefits beyond the classroom, especially when they are learning to do this in more than one language. As a bilingual educator, I love that I am able to provide them with the learning opportunity to grow as bilingual readers. My students are always excited and eager to listen to me read to them, or when a new books is being added to our classroom library. Our book libraries are an essential resource to allow our students in expanding their imaginations and engaging in stories that open their minds to new worlds that are similar and different to their own.
I want to continue to foster a love for reading in the Spanish language and to continue helping them experience and enjoy reading stories in this language.
To accomplish this, I must to be able to provide them with high-interest, engaging books. However, this can be a challenge when my classroom library has a limited selection of books. I ask for your help in continuing to support my students growing love for reading in Spanish!
