Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My ELL tenth grade students are all recent immigrants who are learning English as their second, third or even fourth language. My students are from more than 20 countries and speak more than six different languages.

My students are amazing recent immigrants who work part-time jobs, take care of family members, play sports and attend our after-school programs.

Every day, my students read their independent reading books and have monthly book club discussions. As students become avid readers, our classroom library needs to expand!

My Project

My high school students are reading more and more during our independent reading time. As they fall in love with reading, it is essential that our classroom library keeps up with their interests.

Unfortunately, at my school, there is no school library or clear budget for buying classroom books.

Your donation of this 16 book collection will provide a variety of new books including poetry by Salvadoran American author Yesika Salgado, graphic novels that feature female protagonists and women's history subjects. There is also a variety of short novels, poetry collections and adolescent graphic novels that offers something for every reader.
