Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Something that I tell my students every year is that we are a classroom family that should support and care for each other. It helps us feel connected to each other and gives students valuable opportunities to grow their social and emotional skills. Last year, our school started using a house system, where students from all grades are organized into "houses" that represent different values.

The house system has helped our classroom family grow to a school family that includes students from every grade.

Every month we gather as houses for one big celebration where students get to show their spirit for the house and celebrate everyone's accomplishments together. Fifth graders are reading with kindergarteners, first graders have conversations with fourth graders about how to show responsibility at school, second and third graders are holding each other accountable for coming to school in uniform to help us all earn house points. It is just amazing to see students of all ages coming together to have fun and learn.

I am one of two house leaders for the house of Libertad, also known as the red house. With your help we can be the house with the most spirit and the most heart!
