Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are particularly unique in the fact that they all come from at-risk homes, but are being held to high, college-ready standards. Even in third grade we are talking to them about getting a college degree, and what it takes to become successful humans.

These students have some of the highest CAASPP scores in the state of California, two years in a row!

They work tirelessly throughout the year to master the standards, meet or exceed the expectations, and develop a love of literature. This is not easy, especially since they lack support at home and with family.

My kiddos strive to succeed on a daily basis, even in the face of adversity. They want to grow up to be amazing people and yearn for an environment that helps them get there.

My Project

My kiddos haven't been offered a lot in life. They want to succeed, they just need a little help in getting there. My students are always asking me if I have any new books that I can lend them, or which titles I can recommend. They cannot get enough!

These students search out any book on any topic we are learning about in class.

They yearn to learn more about our units to extend their knowledge in Science, Math, and Social Studies. They are eager to be college-ready and I want to fan that flame through text!

I have bookshelves all set up and ready to go in my room. All they need is for you to generously provide the funds to fill our room with novels, picture books, and so much more! My kiddos would be so grateful to have the opportunity to diversify their book choices and enhance their knowledge. Thank you in advance!
