This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My third graders are highly energetic, inquisitive, hands-on learners.
My special needs students are constantly seeking to understand how their world around them works and they learn best from hands-on experiences.
As a teacher in this high needs, low income community, it is my goal to expose these children to as many engaging and mentally stimulating experiences in order to help them flourish. We are seeking to replace "I'm bored" with "Let me show you how..." or "One way to explain this is..."
My Project
We are just beginning to learn to code in our classroom. The coding mouse will give my students a hands on interactive coding experience.
Through pair coding, my students will be able to observe and debug their program on the spot, all while working on their interpersonal and communication skills.
These items will help build my students STEM vocabulary as well as problem solving skills; thus preparing them to be college and career ready. Although we are uncertain what their careers may be, we are certain that technology use, problem solving, and teamwork are in their future.
Please help them catch the coding bug that may ultimately lead them to a career in computer science.
