As the school year begins, I start to think about how much I want my students to learn this year. I know that I can teach them so much but I can teach them even more with hands on materials to help them fully understand the concepts.
My students are a linguistically, racial and economically diverse group of first graders.
The children get along well with each other regardless of their differences. The students teach each other and learn from one another in our classroom community.
My Project
These materials will be critical in helping my first grade students learn math skills that they can count on as they continue their learning as they move from grade to grade. We will be using this materials daily to engage with challenging math concepts.
We will use the calculators to learn everyday math skills and to play games that teach us that while calculators are helpful our brains are better! We will use the common core materials to engage with the new standards and ensure that my students gain a deep knowledge of the content that they are learning. We will then use the dice for numerous math games and data analyze. These materials will make us the smartest first graders around!
This donation will help me to be a better teacher and my students to become critical thinkers.
Together we will use the manipulatives to become successful learners not just memorizers!
