This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
All kids deserve to play. Wooden blocks are a great way to build 21st century engineering, math, and critical thinking skills. Kids benefit immensely from floor work and heavy work that crosses midline. Building with solid wooden blocks on the floor does all that! It is immensely beneficial, also just fun!
Real, solid manipulatives such as wooden blocks also allow my English-learners to show understanding of geometry and spacial concepts as well as practice using descriptive language in a low-pressure way.
We use wooden blocks during rainy day recess, free play time, and incorporate them into math and science lessons. Help us bring these benefits into our classroom and daily routines. Wooden blocks are a classic for a reason!
