Help me give my students classrooms with clean air by providing the materials to build high-quality portable air filters for 10 elementary school classrooms.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project will allow our school community members to build 10 Corsi-Rosenthal boxes for our pre-K through 2nd grade classrooms to clean our indoor air and help protect our students and teachers against airborne contaminants like dust, smoke, and pollution as well as flu, cold, and virus particles.
Help us give our students classrooms with clean air by providing the materials to build high-quality portable air filters for ten pre-K to 2nd grade elementary school classrooms.
The Corsi-Rosenthal box works as well as many of the best commercial air filters, but at a fraction of the cost. Keeping students healthy will reduce absenteeism and keep students in school and learning. Our 5th grade Environmental Stewardship Club will learn how to build Corsi-Rosenthal boxes and will lead our youngest students in building CR boxes for the pre-K through grade 2 classrooms. Our students will learn STEM skills and become community scientists as they build the portable air filters.
This project builds on our 2022-23 project where our 5th grade class built three Corsi-Rosenthal box and built a website to educate the school community about lung health and the importance of clean indoor air.
