My Project

This year, I’m launching the first-ever third-grade Dual Language Immersion (DLI) class at our school! It's an exciting milestone, but also a big challenge. I’m starting the year with only three Spanish books in the classroom.

That’s why I’m requesting the Hexagramm Spanish Third Grade Book Set.

This collection offers a perfect mix of fiction and nonfiction, a wide range of reading levels (L–P), and many authentic texts originally written in Spanish, not just translations. These books are thoughtfully curated to expand students’ reading interests and open doors to new voices, cultures, and ideas and allowing students to see themselves — and others — reflected in the stories they read.

I’ve worked with Hexagramm Books before in other grades and know how powerful their curation is. They choose titles that go beyond the typical and help students discover new genres, voices, and interests. These are not just books students already know. They’re books that expand what students think reading can be.

Because this is the first third-grade DLI class, there’s no existing Spanish library to build from and these students truly can’t wait half the year with a subpar collection. To foster strong, joyful reading habits, we need a high-quality Spanish library ready from day one.

For my Spanish-dominant students, this collection provides access to books that match their age and interests, which is something that’s often missing. These books will support their transition from transitional readers to fluent readers with confidence and excitement. For my English-dominant students, it’s equally important to have engaging, culturally relevant options in Spanish that inspire them to read and grow in both languages.
