My Project

For this project, I am requesting a variety of different children's book series to help my students foster a culture of reading and curiosity in the classroom. I believe that these books will help to improve reading proficiency and comprehension skills. These books will also serve as resources for collaborative projects and discussions which will enrich their overall learning experience in and outside of the classroom.

In my class, we have a classroom library but I would like to provide new books that will boost student engagement and motivation.

I believe incorporating fresh and diverse titles that spark student interests will encourage students to explore different genres and topics, hopefully, allowing students to develop regular reading habits.

My students are fifth graders, some students are reading on-grade level while other students are reading 2-4 levels below their grade. No matter what their reading level is, I believe it is very important that they have opportunities to be able to visit the classroom library, choose a book that interests them, and have that time to sit, read, and enjoy the story.
