This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach in East Side San Jose, where my students are curious, creative, and passionate about the intersection of art and technology. Our school serves a predominantly student of color population, many of whom come from marginalized communities. Despite the challenges they face, my students are eager to learn and express themselves through innovative projects. Our art class, which heavily incorporates STEM principles, has become a sanctuary for them to explore and develop their talents.
Our two resin printers have enabled my students to explore the fascinating world of 3D printing, and while their excitement for designing and printing their own models is clear, we now urgently need more resin to continue creating and a variety of Vallejo model paints to enhance our creations with vibrant colors and intricate details.
With your support, we can receive additional resin for our printers and a comprehensive set of Vallejo model paints. These resources will allow my students to not only print but also beautifully finish their models, bringing their artistic visions to life. This project will further bridge the gap between art and STEM, providing a hands-on learning experience that fosters creativity, technical skills, and a deep understanding of the design process.
This project will also support our ongoing efforts to use art as a means of healing and expression, especially important for our community. By combining STEM with artistic endeavors, we can inspire students to pursue careers in fields they may not have considered before.
