Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our campus is a Title I school which serves students with economic disadvantages. Approximately 75% of our school's population receive free and reduced lunches. A majority of our student population consists of Hispanic and Caucasian students. Despite the challenges, each student comes in every day eager to learn.

Even after Hurricane Harvey delayed the beginning of our school year, our students continue to overcome academic challenges on a daily basis.

On our campus, 10% of our students participate in our Gifted and Talented program. The GT students are encouraged to push through the challenges they face and become the best student so they can go to college!

During our GT Enrichment classes, the students participate in STEM challenges and utilize their problem-solving skills. Not only do our students utilize STEM skills, they learn to work collaboratively with their peers.

Coding and robotics is a great way to engage GT students. By allowing them to learn how to code, they can be leaders in their classrooms. This allows all teachers on our campus to challenge their students with STEM activities like robotics.

My Project

By bringing Botley, The Coding Robot, to our campus, all of our students will be enriched when working on STEM activities. Today's students are interested in technology and coding activities. The highly engaging activities our students can participate in on our campus with Botley will motivate all learners.

By introducing Botley, The Coding Robot, to our Gifted and Talented students during enrichment time, the students utilize their problem-solving skills by collaborating with their peers.

All teachers on campus can use Botley activities in their classrooms and the GT students are the experts that lead the lesson. This teaches the GT students to be innovative leaders on our campus.
