This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come from every corner of the world. They are all English Language Learners (ELLs), and are a microcosm of Queens. Each has a unique story to tell, but often they have not yet mastered enough of the English language to share it. It's even harder to practice a new language if the air around you is not safe to breathe.

Indoor air pollution is a real danger, especially to students who like me have asthma, allergies, or who are more susceptible to infectious diseases.

My school is in a very urban area of Queens, with a major road right outside our school. Opening the windows leads to a lot of noise and more pollution. Please help us get a large-volume purifier that will clean the air in our room several times an hour. It will keep my students and I healthier, leading to fewer days absent, and clearer focus when we are in school.

In this new world we live in since COVID, this should be a standard piece of equipment in every classroom, but it isn't. Please make a difference in our space and donate so my students and I can breathe a whole lot easier.
