This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Education is the most powerful tool you can use to change the world".- Nelson Mandela Allowing my students the opportunity to work out problems and showcase their work will give them the confidence to continue working hard, learning and the ability to achieve their goals.

My wonderful students are fun and eager learners.

They consist of special needs and English language learners that come from low-income, impoverished families with challenging backgrounds. They are kind, respectful young individuals who need frequent encouragement and stimulation in their learning. They try so hard to learn, participate, and to succeed despite some of their learning abilities. One of the biggest challenges for them is volunteering to demonstrate their understanding to me or classmates. Our inner city school is a Title I school, 100% free lunch with very little resources servicing low-income families.

My Project

Many students cannot afford to purchase dry erase markers for mini white boards, forget their pencils, or have no notebook paper. This can be a struggle for many of them, including myself. Boogie Boards will allow my students to not only incorporate technology into education process, but it will boost their confidence during small group instruction, peer work, or one-on-one time with the teacher. They will not waste time looking for a writing utensil, or feel bad because they lack daily supplies. Students will use these boards to guide themselves through multiple step/word problems, while increasing their problem solving skills/strategies.

Your generous donations to this project will improve my classroom by engaging students in their learning, while adding excitement and fun.

Students will be given the opportunity to further enhance their mathematical thinking and understanding through both visual and a hands-on approach.
